About Sunray

Sunray art & design is the name of the company in which Herma Ardesch accommodates her work as a graphic designer and artist.

After a successful career at first in health care and later in the business world, she decided to quit her job in 1999 to create space for her creative talents.

It all started with writing and illustrating two stories about the favourite cuddly toy of her two sons. In 2002 these stories were published as a picture book with the title 'Penta the little octopus'. With this book the foundation for Sunray was established.

Graphic design

Meanwhile she also works as a graphic designer. Her clients can be found among musicians, in the arts and culture sector, but also in different business segments and among private persons. You can find a selection of the Sunray design portfolio at this website.

Paintings

Herma paints free as well as in commission, in acrylics, mixed media and watercolour. She is inspired by all living things. She combines realistic elements with her fantasy, which almost by itself results in 'dreamscapes'. She is also attracted by symbolism, atmosphere and mysticism of different and ancient cultures.

When working in mixed media she sometimes uses elements like sand, feathers and small stone fragments, which give the two dimensional canvases a subtle third dimension.

Form originates from content

Whether it's a painting or a graphic design, the form always originates from the content. In commissioned work this content is the message or wish of a client; in her free work Herma loves to let her intuition lead the way.

Sunray's mission is 'to shine a creative, loving little ray of sunshine in the lives of as many people as possible, great and small, far away and nearby.'
